Pre-Theatre Meal before Motown the Musical at Cabana Covent Garden!
I visited Cabana in Covent Garden with my parents and sister as it’s our Mum’s favourite restaurant (ours too!) and we’d booked to see Motown the Musical next door.
We ordered our favourite thing on the menu – Spicy Malagueta Chicken skewers with Sweet Potato Fries which never fail to disappoint – along with happy hour classic caipirinhas which we also love! As always we thoroughly enjoyed it and the restaurant’s buzzing atmosphere got us in the party mood for the show!
Just as we were getting the bill, I glanced out of the window and spotted someone who looked familiar…a tall striking blonde man with a full beard dressed very sharply in a blue suit. A quick Google confirmed that it was indeed Rune Temte the Norwegian actor!! By this time he had entered the restaurant and said hello as he passed our table. Encouraged by his friendly greeting and the fact that he was alone, we gingerly approached him to introduce ourselves and tell him how much we enjoyed the film Eddie the Eagle in which he starred as Bjorn the Norwegian ski jumping coach. He was absolutely charming – he stood up, shook hands with each of us and said to me “you’re tall, you could be Scandinavian!” which needless to say I was delighted by! He was a real gentleman. He also agreed to pose in some photos with us.
After leaving the restaurant totally star struck we went to watch Motown the Musical which was a fabulous show – great story, powerful voices and lots of good songs – the perfect end to a perfect night out!
